How to Start Your Day Like a High Performing CEO (10 Min. Morning Ritual)

“The way you start your day determines the quality of your day.” -  Robin Sharma

“Win the morning, win the day.” - Tim Ferriss

High performers don't leave their mornings to chance. They understand something simple but powerful: the way you begin the day often determines how the rest of the day unfolds.

If you start the day reactive and scattered, that energy tends to ripple through everything you do. But when you start the day grounded, intentional, and focused, your decisions, priorities, and actions naturally become more aligned.

This entire ritual takes about ten minutes, but it creates a powerful shift in how the day begins.

1. Visualize the Ideal Day

The first thing I do is pause and breathe.

Then I visualize exactly how I want the day to unfold.

I ask myself a simple question:

What would the best, most powerful, smart and high-performing version of me accomplish today? How does she act and move? What doesn't she do?

Then I step into that identity. I become her.

2. Begin With Prayer

The next step is prayer.

Prayer centers me before the day begins moving quickly. It reminds me that my work isn't just about productivity or achievement. It's about service.

I pray that the right people find my work.

I pray that I serve them well.

I pray that my business creates a positive impact on people's lives.

Prayer brings humility, gratitude, and perspective into the start of the day.

And those qualities create much better leadership than stress or urgency ever could.

3. Read Your Personal Pledge

After prayer, I read my personal pledge.

A pledge reminds you who you're committed to becoming.

Most people begin their day absorbing external input: notifications, messages, news, other people's priorities.

A pledge anchors you internally before that noise begins.

It reconnects you with your mission and your standards. It's your north star and guiding light.

When you remember who you're committed to being, decisions become easier.

4. Decide The One Thing

Next, I decide the single most important outcome for the day.

This concept is often called The One Thing.

Instead of trying to accomplish twenty tasks, I identify the one task that would make the day successful even if nothing else got done.

Many people fill their days with activity... but not progress.

High performers focus on leverage.

The One Thing is the MOST powerful thing you could possibly get done today.

Once you know the one thing that matters most, the day becomes much simpler.

5. Plan The Day

After identifying the one thing, I take a few minutes to map out everything else I want to achieve.

Planning doesn't need to be complicated. It's simply about deciding when your most important work will happen.

When tasks stay in your head, they often get pushed aside by distractions.

Planning removes decision fatigue and creates clarity.

Map out exactly what needs to get done, in detail.

6. Focus

Once the workday begins, I follow a simple rule: Focus on The One Thing. Wholeheartedly. Set a timer. Knock it out. Get it done. Celebrate that it's done. Then focus on your other tasks. Don't task switch, doom scroll or fuck around. Act like someone important is looking over your shoulder and making sure you stay on task.

A Simple Ritual That Shapes the Day

This morning ritual is simple on purpose.

It just requires a few minutes of intention before the day begins.

Those few minutes help you step into the identity of the person you want to be.

Instead of reacting to life, you begin leading it.

And over time, those small daily rituals quietly shape the life and business you're building.
